What is Microdermabrasion and how does it work?

Microdermabrasion is the controlled exposure of the skin to mechanically abrasive crystals. These crystals cannot be absorbed into the bloodstream, but scrub away dull or scarred layers of the epidermis, smoothing wrinkles and scarring and promoting new skin growth.

Ultra fine crystals are projected to the surface skin. The crystals remove environmental pollutants and dead and dying cells from the epidermis. The tiny crystals and skin are vacuumed back through the hand piece to a waste canister.

The vacuum pressure serves to aggressively stimulate the underlying region of the skin called the dermis. Increased blood circulation to the skin helps to encourage the growth of new skin cells, as well as collagen and elastins that give that toned and firm look to the skin.

As blood flow is increased to the skin, fluid and toxins are eliminated through the facial lymphatic system to improve unsightly puffiness around the eyes.

With the removal of the epithelial cells from the epidermis, the newly exposed skin cells quickly become visible on the surface of the skin giving a new radiance to your face.

The treatments take about 30 minutes and are optimally done every 10-14 days. A series of 6-8 treatments is usually required to achieve maximum results.

You will need a monthly treatment or treatment on special occasions to maintain the results.
