How does it work?

Photorejuvenation erases skin damage without disrupting the skin's surface and simultaneously treats a wide range of facial problems, improving the texture and complexion of your skin.An intense pulsed light delivers light energy to your skin. Special filters maximise the efficiency of this light and produce a non-invasive, safe and effective treatment.

We recommend a a series of 5-6 treatments, one per month, for optimal results. Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. You'll typically see results within 5-7 days following your treatments. You will experience a gradual decrease in skin redness and flushing. Smoother skin, smaller pore size, and fading of sun spots. Rosacea sufferers will see significant improvement.

  • Stimulates cell growth
  • Promotes collagen growth

What areas can be treated?

IPL can be used anywhere on the body. Best results are seen on the face, chest, neck, arms, legs and and the backs of you hands.

Does it hurt?

You will feel a slight stinging sensation during your treatments. To avoid any discomfort, you may apply a topical anesthetic 30 minutes prior to your treatments. Ask Jean for details.

IPL Pre-Treatment Instructions

1. Treatment areas should not be exposed to the sun. Apply a broad spectrum (1JVA/UVB) sunscreen of SPF 15-30 for 2-4 weeks before and after treatment. For optimal results refrain completely from sun tanning, use of tanning-beds, or self-tanning products for 1-3 months prior to therapy.

2. Caution is advised for persons with a history of herpes simplex near the treatment area. Treatment may cause an outbreak of this condition. The risk of this complication can be reduced if you take prescribed antiviral medication for a few days before and after each treatment. If you have an active herpes outbreak your appointment should be rescheduled.

3. Use of skin irritants (i.e. hydroquinone, benzyl peroxide, glycolic acid, retinoic acid, alpha-hydroxy products, and astringents) should be avoided for at least 48 hours before and after treatment.

4. Prior to treatment, the area must be cleansed of make-up, perfumes, powders, or moisturizers. In some cases, a topical numbing cream may be applied as directed. Please note you may be more sensitive or uncomfortable fyou are premenstrual, tired, or taking antibiotics.

5. In most cases, treatment will result in a mild sunburn-like sensation that typically disappears without treatment in 2-3 hours. Some mild redness may persist following treatment. Rarely, blistering may occur. Discomfort may be alleviated with Tylenol or A dvii. An over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream may help minimize redness. If desired, apply a healing or soothing gel or ointment for 2 days.

6. Following treatment, the site should be washed gently with a mild non-drying soap and water. Make-up may be applied and removed delicately. Do not scratch or rub the area.

7. If the treated area turns brown or crusts, do not rub, pick, or use any kind of exfoliation for 7-10 days or until it heals. Crusted areas may be treated with an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment.

8. Results will be noticeable 4-6 weeks after treatment with gradual improvement in fine lines, irregular pigmentation, skin texture, pore size, and blood vessels. Initial treatment is followed by 2 to 5 subsequent treatment sessions at least 3 weeks apart. To maintain results, follow-up treatments are recommended every 6-9 months.

9. Contraindications for IPL treatment: sun exposure 2-4 weeks prior to treatment: active localized or systemic infections: compromised immune system: coagulation disorders: photosensitivity or allergy: current use of aspirin or anticoagulants: pregnancy: dark moles: tattoos.

10.Caution is advised for receiving IPL treatment ([you have used oral isotretinoin (Accutane) or corticosteroids within the preceding six months. Persons with a history of keloid scar formation may be more prone to scarring after any skin trauma, including IPL treatment.
